Foundation funding opportunities

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF)

MJFF is soliciting proposals for funding to support Linked Efforts to Accelerate Parkinson's Solutions (LEAPS). The core element of the LEAPS paradigm is a focus on a major research question whose answering would result in a major, practical impact on the understanding or treatment of Parkinson's disease. Up to $10 million is expected to be available for first-round awards having a project period of up to four years. Eligibility is unrestricted. Required preproposals are due April 29, 2005; full proposals, which are by invitation only, will be due Aug. 15, 2005. More information is available at http://www.michaeljfox.org/research/fundingopps.php?id=13

Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF)

Research Awards of up to $75,000 for a project period of one-to-three years will be made for new research projects initiated by established investigators. Young Investigator Research Awards of up to $50,000 for a project period of one-to-two years also will be made. Young investigators must be within eight years of completing a terminal degree, or within five years of initiating independent research within a mentored laboratory. Required letters of intent are due May 13, 2005; applications are due July 29, 2005. More information is available at http://www.laf.org/Research/
