Ballistic Protection Technologies (BPT) is a provider of revolutionary fiber-based, weight-optimized armored defense products for all personnel who find themselves in high-threat environments. These products include ballistic blankets and ballistic shields and are designed to provide maximum survivability when system redundancy is not an option.
BPT, a start-up veteran-owned small business, wins their first contract award within eight (8) months in business, due to the support of the NC Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). As the war in Iraq continues, BPT developed a new technology and designed new, light weight armor for soldiers to wear in a vest, or for use as a blast blanket. It can be instantly installed in ground vehicles, aircraft, or marine craft seats, flooring, and doors. It is extremely light and versatile. This new technology protects our forces in high threat areas. Due to the secure nature of their product, and the confidentiality of their client (SOCOM at Ft Bragg) the contract particulars cannot be shared about the award, other than its value is 6-figures.
The partnership of BPT, started by R. Lupton Pittman, III says they relied solely on the PTAC counselor to help them register their company in Central Contractor Registration, Small Business Administration’s Supplemental Profile, NC Vendor Link, E-Procurement/e-quote, FEDBIZOPs, and with the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA). “We couldn’t have done it without the help of the PTAC – their services are an invaluable asset to our success.” PTAC also assisted BPT by identifying the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of federal government agency’s Small Business Specialists. Those resources provided BPT contact with the military's contracting officers who have the signature authority and the ‘ear’ of the General Officers who are looking for cutting-edge technology for protecting our warriors in harms-way.
BPT is also marketing their products throughout the U.S. at all levels of armed forces, also including police and sheriff departments, the FBI, and all the other ‘alphabet’ agencies needing to protect their front line personnel. Mr. Pittman added, “I recommend the PTAC to all companies that want to contract with government agencies, whether locally, with the State, or at the Federal levels. We couldn’t have done it without them.”
