Dr. J. H. Carter III & Associates Success Story

Dr. J. H. Carter III & Associates was on a mission to get on the General Services Administration's (GSA) schedule 899 for environmental services. After investing two years of resources and efforts with private consultants, they still did not have a GSA schedule contract. However, all of that changed after learning about the North Carolina Procurement Technical Assistance Center's (NC PTAC) services. Within four months of meeting their PTAC counselor, they were awarded a GSA schedule.
Established in 1976 and located in Southern Pines, NC, Dr. J. H. Carter III & Associates, Inc. (JCA) is an environmental consulting firm that specializes in protected species surveys, preparation of biological and environmental assessments, wetland delineations, permitting and mitigation, and land management in the Carolinas and the Southeastern United States. They are a frequent contractor for the federal government and often perform work for the neighboring U.S. Army base, Fort Bragg.
Encouraged by one of their federal customers to get on schedule, JCA started the GSA proposal process. Obtaining a GSA schedule is not a simple task, even for an experienced government contractor like JCA. The requirements and paperwork can be daunting at first glance. However, working with their PTAC counselor, they were able to bring all of the pieces together. "It made the task much simpler having someone who could accurately answer our questions and provide advice." After three meetings and two reviews their proposal was on its way to GSA.
On October 7, 2005, JCA received the good news - GSA awarded them a schedule for environmental services. Even though the process was sometimes difficult, they're glad to be on schedule. Debbie remarked, "Thanks to the PTAC, we now have a new means to market and provide environmental consulting services where needed!"
