More from the PTAC director
Marketplace,
a reverse trade show which allows business owners the opportunity of talking
with government and prime contractors, was a success. Almost 400 attendees visited
with officials at 50 government and prime contractor booths. The list of buyers
is very impressive. If you attended, I hope that you had great success in meeting
those that could be your next "best customer." For follow-up information
(including a list of attendees and presentations), visit www.sbtdc.org/events/marketplace.
If you missed Marketplace, then you have another chance to market your goods and/or services to government agencies. A similar show, sponsored by US Congressman Robin Hayes, is coming to Fayetteville on August 9 at Fayetteville Technical Community College. This event will be a defense trade show and government procurement workshop combined. Approximately 50 large defense contracting firms will be available to answer your questions on subcontracting and other related topics. Also next spring, Asheville will host Opportunities 2006. Keep your eyes on the SBTDC website's events.
The Department of Defense has tasked each PTAC with training end users on the
new "marking requirement,", RFID (Radio Frequency Identification).
Our PTAC counselors have been thoroughly trained and will be giving seminars
across the state to familiarize you with specifics. These are must-attend seminars
if you want to sell to the Department of Defense, and RFID technology is rapidly
replacing bar coding among other federal agencies. Come learn the new methods
of product identification. Other resources in the state will be available to
assist you and your company with implementation as well. If you want a short
preview of RFID, check-out the presentation on our Marketplace
'05 website.
