Starting Your Business Pre-Venture Online Training Series
Our 3-module series is designed for individuals who are thinking about or have begun the process of starting a business. Each session is approximately 30 minutes long. After registering, you will be able to access the webinar and view it at your convenience.
Module 1: Starting Your Business: Increase Your Chances of Success
This module will help you assess yourself as a potential business owner and determine the feasibility of your business idea. It also looks at three approaches to going into business – starting a business, buying a franchise, and buying a business. (33 minutes)
Module 2: Developing Your Business Plan
This module will help you with your business plan. It discusses reasons to develop a plan, what to include (executive summary, company information, product/service, HR, marketing, operations, and financial plans), and tips for writing a successful plan. (30 minutes)
Module 3: Funding Options for Your Business
This module describes potential funding options (including family & friends, angel investors, loans, specialized grants, local sources), and what the various financing sources look for from the individuals / businesses they fund. (39 minutes)
SBIR/STTR Online Training
This video seminar describes the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs, including definitions, eligibility, solicitations, proposal process, benefits, and assistance available from the SBTDC. It also discusses the NC Incentive and Matching Fund Programs. (34 minutes)
