Should I consider an Intranet site?

I want to communicate with my employees more effectively.

One excellent way to communicate with your employees is through the use of an Intranet. This avenue for sharing information internally is growing in popularity.

International Data Corp (IDC) reports, in fact, that Intranets can be found in 59% of US and 38% of European organizations. In 1998, one out of every four dollars spent on US company Internet initiatives was spent on Intranets ($11 billion). IDC predicts that there will be 133 million users by 2001.

Intranets are used to allow employees electronic access to documents without making them available to the general public. Some of the features include: group calendars, document managers, online conferencing rooms, bulletin boards, package tracing, and instant messaging. Intranets are secure and password-protected.
