Julie Lanning was promoted to Director of Finance and Administration in August 2023 after serving as Interim Director for a year. She and her team are responsible for all financial transactions and reporting for the SBTDC statewide, as well as human resource administration oversight.
Julie has a demonstrated history of working for higher education. She has worked at both UNC Chapel Hill and NC State University for over twenty-five years combined. She first worked for the SBTDC in the late 1990s as the Budget Officer, and again in the early 2000s as a Business Counselor working with start-ups and early-stage clients. In 2015, Julie took a promotion to work for the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) at NC State in Research Administration before returning to the SBTDC in July 2020 as the CARES Act Business Officer.
Julie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
